Charley's is my kind of place - Willie Nelson

Take a step back in time and find true Aloha.

Charley's Restaurant and Saloon, established in 1969, is an award-winning, Maui Landmark.

Charley’s is a reflection of the culture of Maui, the essence of its foods, and the warm spirit of entertainment and Aloha.

We welcome you to a favorite community gathering place and celebrated destination spot.

Charley’s is located in Paia, Maui, Hawaii; a former sugar-plantation town that serves as the crossroads to the North Shore of Maui.  Known for its large waves and ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing and kite-boarding, the North Shore of Maui is a water playground. The North Shore is also known for its rainforests, waterfalls and hiking.

Paia maintains its small-town, old Hawaii charm, and is now a bustling destination with restaurants, bars, shopping, coffee and gelato.

At Charley’s you never know who might be sitting next to you. It’s long been a favorite hang-out for surfers, adventurers, writers, hippies, rock stars, artists, business leaders, celebrities, and all types, looking to get away and find the ultimate in Maui hospitality.

Brooklyn-based Max Gabriel's music caught the ears of producer/keyboardist Scott Healy, whose wide-ranging performing and recording credits include Bruce Springsteen, Al Green, BB King, Jackson Browne, and Branford Marsalis. Around the same time, Gabriel signed to sonaBLAST! Records. The result of these meetings is Gabriel's just-released debut, THE EXILE OF SAINT CHRISTOPHER, featuring the talents of some of New York's most virtuosic and well-seasoned musicians. Steve Holley (Wings, Dar Williams) and Shawn Pelton (Shawn Colvin, Bruce Springsteen) play drums, Glenn Alexander (Phoebe Snow, Elvis Costello) and Jimmy Vivino (John Sebastian, Phoebe Snow, Max Weinberg 7) play guitar, and fretless bassist Bakithi Kumalo of Paul Simon's "Graceland" are among a few of an ensemble that includes a full horn section and the celebrated classical group the Ahn Trio. Fellow sonaBLAST! signatories Mark Geary and Kelley McRae lend back-up vocals, as does up-and-coming West Coast folk sensation Brett Dennen. A Paste Recommends artist and short-listed for SXSW, Max Gabriel's music is distinguished by startling lyrics, an unconventional voice, and often cinematic textures. At once literary and highly accessible, his songwriting has been compared to that of Leonard Cohen, Glen Hansard, and early David Byrne.
