Charley's is my kind of place - Willie Nelson

Take a step back in time and find true Aloha.

Charley's Restaurant and Saloon, established in 1969, is an award-winning, Maui Landmark.

Charley’s is a reflection of the culture of Maui, the essence of its foods, and the warm spirit of entertainment and Aloha.

We welcome you to a favorite community gathering place and celebrated destination spot.

Charley’s is located in Paia, Maui, Hawaii; a former sugar-plantation town that serves as the crossroads to the North Shore of Maui.  Known for its large waves and ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing and kite-boarding, the North Shore of Maui is a water playground. The North Shore is also known for its rainforests, waterfalls and hiking.

Paia maintains its small-town, old Hawaii charm, and is now a bustling destination with restaurants, bars, shopping, coffee and gelato.

At Charley’s you never know who might be sitting next to you. It’s long been a favorite hang-out for surfers, adventurers, writers, hippies, rock stars, artists, business leaders, celebrities, and all types, looking to get away and find the ultimate in Maui hospitality.

Somewhere between Depeche Mode and The Knife lies the danceable and complex sound of L1ght Ra1L. Michael Buehl, a dynamic drummer and synth player , teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Avery Brown to form a uniquely infectious electronic project that combined dark soundscapes and pop sensibility. Steadily, they built a local fan base performing in venues around San Diego under the name of Setback City, such as Soda Bar, The Casbah, The Merrow, The Stage, Tin Can Ale House, House of Blues, The Griffin, Cantor's Deli, and the 710 Beach Club, Kava Lounge, Kensington Club.

After multiple singers, fate brought Cara Potiker along for the ride, a prolific singer songwriter. Within a few breaths, she gyrates between deep soul lines and eighties inspired hooks, adding her one of a kind flare to the trio's sound. With their new singer came an evolution, prompting them to change their name from Setback City to L1ght Ra1L. Derived from a retro-futuristic transit system, the new name further resonated with the nu-wave style that emerged from their collective writings. Together, L1ght Ra1L has created a full length album of layered, groovy electronica. At their show you can expect to be constantly engaged and moving. They combine audio visuals, live drums, guitar, synth, bass, and vocals to create an idiosyncratic live electronic experience. Their diverse set bends within genres, fitting in with DJs, electronic festivals, progressive rock, and indie rock lineups.
