Charley's is my kind of place - Willie Nelson

Take a step back in time and find true Aloha.

Charley's Restaurant and Saloon, established in 1969, is an award-winning, Maui Landmark.

Charley’s is a reflection of the culture of Maui, the essence of its foods, and the warm spirit of entertainment and Aloha.

We welcome you to a favorite community gathering place and celebrated destination spot.

Charley’s is located in Paia, Maui, Hawaii; a former sugar-plantation town that serves as the crossroads to the North Shore of Maui.  Known for its large waves and ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing and kite-boarding, the North Shore of Maui is a water playground. The North Shore is also known for its rainforests, waterfalls and hiking.

Paia maintains its small-town, old Hawaii charm, and is now a bustling destination with restaurants, bars, shopping, coffee and gelato.

At Charley’s you never know who might be sitting next to you. It’s long been a favorite hang-out for surfers, adventurers, writers, hippies, rock stars, artists, business leaders, celebrities, and all types, looking to get away and find the ultimate in Maui hospitality.

Los Angeles based singer/songwriter/guitarist Shane Alexander (www.shanealexandermusic.com) ponders life, death, and the long road to enlightenment on his fourth solo record, Mono Solo. The follow up to the internationally acclaimed The Sky Below (2008), the new set stretches out sonically, and lyrically explores corners of the mind where few writers dare to tread. The opening track, “Miles for Days”, is an upbeat ode to depression. Written while driving through Texas at night, listening to Lucinda Williams, the song’s mournful lyrics sit perfectly atop a stomping cadence that falls somewhere between Peter Gabriel’s “Solsbury Hill” and Paul Simon’s “Cecilia”. On “Keep You In Mind”, Alexander pays tribute to those closest to him that have passed, leaving him to lament the “days of endless summer, before all the changes and forks in the road.” Mono Solo also features two cinematic instrumental pieces that showcase the artist’s first love: the guitar. The title track is centered around a beautiful, space-echoed slide guitar, while the Middle-Eastern-infused “Vegeta” is a finger-picked gem. Possessing a singularly evocative voice and songs that Performing Songwriter Magazine called “stunning,” the fiercely independent artist has amassed a global fan base, driven in part by over 40 television and film placements. No stranger to the road, Shane Alexander has been touring the US, Canada, and most of Europe since his debut in 2005, including stints with Seal, Jewel, John Hiatt, and Suzanne Vega. Immediately following his record release concert in LA June 1st, Shane Alexander will bring his solo acoustic show to the east coast for 12 dates, before heading to Scandinavia and Europe. He just finished up an American tour with iconic artists YES and STYX…this show marks his first foray into Louisville.
